Jun 19, 2013 - Leominster, MA - Three students from Longsjo Middle School in Fitchburg recently visited the Simonds-Sinon Regional Cancer Center, located at the HealthAlliance Hospital - Burbank Campus, with a gift from the heart. The girls raised money to donate to the cancer center by selling hand-crafted ribbons to their friends and fellow students. Katelynn Neagle, 12, Emma Fortier, 11, and Jillyann Montville, 12, raised $318 for the cancer center.
“These young ladies have shown leadership in developing a project and taking it to fruition,” commented Sophia Bogdasarian, RN, OCN, Nurse Manager at the Simonds-Sinon Regional Cancer Center. “Donating to the Cancer Center is such a thoughtful thing for them to have done. We are all very grateful,” Ms. Bogdasarian added.
The girls were inspired by loved ones whom they had lost to cancer. Selling the ribbons at school and to the community, the girls were very happy to help individuals who are battling cancer.
