Message from the Program Director

Thank you for your interest in our PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program.  We hope that through browsing the pages of this website you see all the great things our hospital and program has to offer.   Our personal road to residency training began in the Summer of 2018 and we have been working diligently since then on developing our program and tailoring the requirements and learning experiences to the strengths of both our hospital and our department.  We were granted pre-candidate status by ASHP in July of 2019 and have since participated in the voluntary ASHP Pre-candidate Application Review Process (PARP) where we were matched with an ASHP Surveyor who was able to review our materials and give us constructive feedback regarding our program design.  Through our resident development journey we believe that we have developed a strong residency program and are looking forward to working with our first resident starting in July of 2020.

Our team in the Pharmacy Department at UMass Memorial HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital is composed of devoted and hardworking individuals who are all passionate about providing excellent patient care. We believe that the addition of a pharmacy resident will strengthen our department and improve the patient care that we can provide.  With all of the patient units, departments, and committees that the pharmacy is involved in we believe that our resident will gain all of the hands-on experience and skills he or she needs to work as a clinical pharmacist in the community hospital setting.

Throughout the year the resident will get the opportunity to work alongside pharmacy management, clinical pharmacists and specialists, physicians, medical residents, nurses, pharmacy students, and more.  The resident will be exposed to both centralized pharmacy operations and decentralized pharmacy operations throughout the hospital and will see the unique way pharmacists operate in a community hospital setting.

We are looking forward to the addition of a pharmacy resident to our team and welcome any and all questions you may have for us.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to myself or any of the pharmacy preceptors with your questions.  We wish you luck in your residency search!
