Leominster, MA - UMass Memorial - HealthAlliance Hospital Simonds-Sinon Regional Cancer Center received a $5,000 donation from the Leominster Chapter of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. The Fraternal Order of the Eagles (F.O.E) is an international non-profit organization uniting fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice and equality, to make human life more desirable by lessening its ills and promoting peace, prospertiy, gladness and hope. The F.O.E. donates more than $10 million a year to local communities, fundraisers, charities and more. As part of their philosophy, the F.O.E. gives back 100 percent of monies raised in the form of grants.
Each chapter of the F.O.E. chooses a cause to support and fundraise for annually. Outgoing President, James Fenwick, chose the Simonds-Sinon Regional Cancer Center because he has lost his mother, uncle and aunt to cancer. He also stated that, “Everyone knows someone who has or had cancer. Many members of the Club have family members who have gone through treatment here and I wanted to keep our fundraising cause local.”
“We identify patient needs through our Patient Navigation Program here at the Cancer Center and with the generous donations from our community partners such as the Leominster Chapter of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles we will continue to provide exceptional and specialized care for all,” stated Patti Mitko, RN, Nurse Manager, Simonds-Sinon Regional Cancer Center.
