Internship Opportunities

UMass Memorial Health offers internships to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as high school students interested in health care careers. Throughout our health system, students have the opportunity to participate in hands-on learning and build valuable skills to support their career development.

We offer three internship programs for undergraduate and graduate students:

  • CareerPATH Internship Program
  • Behavioral Health Graduate Clinical Internship Program
  • Child Life Internship Program

For high school students, we offer the NextGen Workforce Internship Program.

CareerPATH Internship Program

This paid internship program prepares college students for non-clinical health care careers in areas like Finance, Information Services, Marketing and Communications, and Regulatory Affairs. Interns support projects, learn from dedicated professionals, and build connections with staff and peers. Opportunities are available year-round for undergraduate and graduate students in fields such as Cybersecurity, Digital Services, External Affairs, Informatics, and more. Most internships occur in summer. Explore opportunities on our Workday Careers page.

Behavioral Health Graduate Clinical Internship Program

For more than 40 years, UMass Memorial Health – Community Healthlink (CHL) has helped adults, children, and families in central and northern Worcester County recover from mental illness, substance use, and homelessness. CHL offers paid practicum and internship programs for graduate students from local and national universities. Students gain hands-on experience providing direct care in our community. We welcome applicants from MSW, MA/LMHC, and PsyD/PhD programs. Explore opportunities on our Workday Careers page.

Child Life Internship Program

Child Life Specialists help children and families cope with the stress of hospitalization through education, play, and emotional support that reduce fear and anxiety. UMass Memorial Health’s Child Life Department offers internships for students in accredited child life programs, providing hands-on learning in a hospital setting under certified specialists’ guidance. Students enrolled in bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD programs can learn more or apply by visiting our Child Life Internship page.

The NextGen Workforce Internship Program
