Mary Maloney, MD, Dermatology
I am the Founding Chair of Dermatology and about to turn the reins over to our incoming Chair, John Harris, MD. I graduated from the University of Vermont College of Medicine in 1977. I trained in internal medicine at Hartford Hospital and then dermatology at the Hitchcock Clinic in Hanover, NH. I finished my training at UC Sn Francisco, doing a fellowship in Mohs surgery and cutaneous oncology. I have worked at the University of Vermont (1983-1988), Penn State College of Medicine (1988-1999) and have been at UMass Memorial for 21 years. The greatest honor I have had is receiving the Fredrick Mohs Distinguished Career Award in 2018.
I have been on the Board for a little over a year. I am passionate about academic medicine and the teaching of medical students, residents and fellows as well as the career development of all our physicians. Working on the Board of the Medical Group has offered me a new way to support our physicians and departments and help them flourish. Supporting all the departments in the Group is the only way to maintain quality medicine as well as scientific advancement. The Board is committed to these goals and I am proud to serve on it.
