A Message About Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center

In response to the COVID-19 emergency, Massachusetts is taking unprecedented steps to establish dedicated skilled nursing facilities to care for patients with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis. Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Worcester County will be the first of these designated sites.

UMass Memorial Health Care wants to acknowledge the staff and residents of Beaumont Rehabilitation for the sacrifices they are making as their facility,  our hospitals, the state, and country wrestles with this horrible pandemic.

We understand that this is asking a lot of the residents and the organization. But we do so for good reason. This virus is upon us and we need every available resource to preserve life in the region.

This includes creating space and availability for COVID-19 patients who need nursing facility levels of care. Because of the elevated risk to our senior population, it is not safe to cohort these patients alongside them in their facility.

Beaumont is taking this step at our request and that of the state in an effort to ensure not only their well-being but that of the many patients who will be brought to hospitals in Worcester County for care and relief from COVID-19.

Because we have not seen the peak of COVID-19 , our planning must continue to ensure we are in the strongest position possible to care for these critically ill patients.“
