Our experts in dermatology diagnose and treat both common as well as more aggressive tumors. Two most common forms of skin cancer – basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma – are highly curable. If you have an aggressive tumors, such as merkel cell carcinoma or melanoma, you can be confident in our expertise.

The diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer often require the skills of many specialists. We bring together these specialists in a single setting (called multidisciplinary care).
Here they discuss care for each patient and develop a thorough treatment program as a team. This provides you the best treatment plan possible. Patients also benefit by being able to see all specialists involved with the care plan in one convenient appointment.

Working with UMass Medical School, the Cancer Center serves as a forum for education and research. Extensive cancer research and clinical trials are conducted so you benefit from the latest diagnostic and treatment options that come from this research.

Many options are available to treat and remove skin tumors, including Mohs micrographic surgery. The Mohs technique, used for many types of skin cancer, is a precise surgery that ensures the tumor is completely removed while saving as much normal, healthy tissue as possible. The highly successful procedure is usually done on an outpatient basis.
