UMass Memorial Brings Home Marketing Awards
Worcester MA - UMass Memorial Medical Center brought home two awards from the 2013 New England Society For Healthcare Communications (NESHCo) spring conference last month.
Earning top prize in the potpourri category, a Gold Lamplighter, was the hospital’s collaboration with Charter TV3 on HealthWatch, a weekly health segment broadcast on Thursday evenings. The segments feature UMass Memorial physicians and other health experts who answer questions on many general health topics, educating the community about current health news. Watch a sample video.
UMass Memorial was also recognized with an Award of Excellence in the Social/New Media Campaign category, for the Marketing and Communications Department’s 2012 Teddy Bear Clinic art contest. The campaign featured the Teddy Bear Clinic Design Contest, which was orchestrated to encourage children in the community to participate in creating the cover art for the Teddy Bear Clinic program flyer and webpage. Children were asked to submit a drawing of a teddy bear wearing either a doctor or a nurse outfit. The drawings were then judged by local “celebrity” judges who voted to choose the winner. The winning design was the face of the program for the Teddy Bear Clinic hosted by the UMass Memorial Children’s Medical Center. Watch the video.
NESHCO is New England’s premier professional society for health care communications, public relations, marketing, advertising and public affairs. The Lamplighters were established to showcase and honor health care communications excellence in the New England region. The 2013 competition included 385 entries, a 25 percent increase over 2012, from more than 86 organizations throughout the area. Entries were judged by the Carolinas Healthcare Public Relations & Marketing Society and the Louisiana Society to Hospital Public Relations & Marketing.
