Hospital Medicine

If you are hospitalized at HealthAlliance Hospital, your care will be coordinated by one of our trained hospitalists. They will help you from admission to discharge. Your hospitalist will manage your treatment and be available for any questions. They will then work closely with your primary care physician keeping him or her informed of your condition. Also, we have pediatric hospitalists as well that assist our pediatric patients.

What Is a Hospitalist?

HealthAlliance Hospital hospitalists - specialists in hospital medicine - work closely with a hospitalized patient and his/her personal physician to coordinate and provide care. Hospitalists are at HealthAlliance Hospital, 24 hours a day, seven days a week and they are available to see patients as many times as needed.

What Services to Hospitalists Provide?

The hospitalist provides services such as:

  • Choosing medical tests or evaluations
  • Interpreting test results
  • Working with the patient's physician to make essential decisions about the treatment plan.
  • Calling in other physician specialists for medical consults or to discuss further treatment options

In short, the hospitalists and the patient's personal physician work as a team to help the patient through a continuum of care that includes easy admission, a comfortable and compassionate hospital stay, and as timely a discharge as possible.
