How to Send Images to UMass Memorial Health

UMass Memorial Health’s secure image-sharing program enables patients, family members, referring providers and institutions to send medical imaging studies to doctors at UMass Memorial.

Your past X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds or other medical images can be an important source of information for your UMass Memorial care team. To get your past images, contact the institution where they were done or the health care provider who ordered them. You can get the images on a CD or flash drive (also called a thumb drive).

How to Upload Images

After you have your images on a CD or flash drive, you can use your computer to send them to UMass Memorial through our partner Nuance PowerShare. The images will then be available for your care team to study and evaluate.

Just visit the Nuance PowerShare website, and follow the instructions. Nuance PowerShare works best with these internet browsers: Chrome, Firefox or Microsoft Edge.

Benefits of Sharing Images

Sharing copies of your images will help you build a comprehensive, personal health record at UMass Memorial — and avoid repeating tests unnecessarily. It’s especially important to obtain previous images and upload them when you are:

  • Seeing a specialist who will review the images
  • Getting a second opinion from a different health care provider
  • Being monitored for an ongoing illness or condition
  • Having more radiology exams done that need to be compared with earlier images

Questions?

If you have questions or have difficulty uploading images, call the Nuance PowerShare support line at 866-809-4746 anytime. It is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
