Choking Rescue for a Child (Over 1 Year of Age)

Here are images that show the steps for helping a child who is choking.

Step-by-Step

    Look for signs of choking.

    Call 911 if the child can’t talk, cough, or breathe.

    Give back blows between the shoulder blades.

    Use the heel of your hand to give 5 back blows.
