Medical Staff Services Overview

Medical Staff Services serves as the liaison between Medical Staff Administration and Hospital Administration. The Department is responsible for:

Credentialing for appointment and reappointment for all providers with clinical privileges and/or appointment to the Medical Staff or Affiliate Practitioner Staff
Clinical Privileging
Provider Enrollment for all practitioners billing through the UMass Memorial Medical Group
Provider Enrollment for the Managed Care Network private practitioners
Maintenance of Provider Information with Government Payers and Commercial Health Plans
Enrollment of the UMass Memorial Healthcare System hospitals with Medicare
Registration of physician observers and visiting physicians
EchoNet Provider Privileges
Provider Payer Status Portal
Echo Credentialing/Managed Care Database
Bylaws, Rules and Regulations
Management of Medical Staff Executive Committee, Credentials Committee, Affiliate Practitioner Credentials Committee
Tracking of Expirable Documents (license, DEA, State Controlled Registration, etc.)
Joint Commission Medical Staff Standards
