UMass Memorial Health – Marlborough Hospital Awarded $225,000 Cummings Foundation Grant for New Palliative Care Program

Marlborough, MA— Marlborough Hospital is honored to announce it has received a three-year, $225,000 grant from Cummings Foundation. This funding will support the launch of the hospital’s new Palliative Care Program, aimed at enhancing quality of life for patients with serious illness by addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs through compassionate, coordinated care.

“We are deeply honored to receive this generous grant from Cummings Foundation,” said Charles Cavagnaro, President of UMass Memorial Health Marlborough Hospital. “These funds will help launch a new Palliative Care Program dedicated to preserving dignity and enhancing quality of life for patients facing serious illness. With compassion at its heart, this program will provide expert care, comfort, and peace of mind to both patients and their families.”

Marlborough Hospital is one of 125 local nonprofits to receive a grant of up to $225,000 through Cummings Foundation’s $30 Million Grant Program.

Cummings Foundation is dedicated to giving back to the communities where it operates. Its properties are leased and managed, at no cost to the Foundation, by its affiliate, Cummings Properties. Based in Woburn, Cummings Properties oversees 10 million square feet of debt-free commercial space, with most of the revenue directly supporting the Foundation’s charitable work.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the expert, compassionate care Marlborough Hospital offers the local community, and we’re so delighted to support it,” said Cummings Foundation Executive Director Joyce Vyriotes. “Our strong ties to Marlborough—home to our New Horizons senior living community—make our ongoing partnership with UMass Memorial Health especially meaningful.”

Cummings Foundation has now awarded nearly $600 million to greater Boston nonprofits. The complete list of this year’s grant winners, plus previous recipients, is available at www.CummingsFoundation.org.
