UMass Memorial Health offers internships to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as high school students interested in health care careers. Throughout our health system, students have the opportunity to participate in hands-on learning and build valuable skills to support their career development.
We offer three internship programs for undergraduate and graduate students:

Behavioral Health Graduate Clinical Internship Program
UMass Memorial Health – Community Healthlink (CHL) has been a leader in central and northern Worcester County for over four decades in helping adults, children and families recover from the effects of mental illness, substance use and homelessness.
CHL offers paid practicum and internship training programs for graduate students, both from local universities and from across the country, providing them with hands-on experience and skill development in delivering direct patient care within our service community.
CHL is dedicated to providing students with a well-rounded, diverse, and comprehensive clinical internship experience. We encourage students from MSW, MA/LMHC track programs, and PsyD/PhD programs to apply.

Child Life Internship Program
A Child Life Specialist supports children and families in navigating the stress of hospitalization by providing developmentally appropriate education, activities, and emotional support to help reduce fears, ease anxiety, and manage pain.
UMass Memorial Health’s Child Life Department is dedicated to training the next generation of professionals by offering internship opportunities to students enrolled in accredited child life programs. These experiences provide valuable, hands-on learning in a hospital setting under the guidance of certified Child Life Specialists.

For High School Students
The NextGen Workforce Internship Program
The NextGen Workforce Internship Program provides paid summer internships for local high school students who are interested in exploring careers in health care. UMass Memorial Health partners with public high schools in communities near our hospital campuses to create opportunities for early career exploration. This six-week program offers students the opportunity to serve in an administrative role in departments such as Capital Planning, Respiratory Care, primary care clinics, our laboratories, and select inpatient hospital areas. Students also learn about the variety of careers that exist within the health care sector.
