Frequently Asked Questions
Patient Registration
Patient Registration
UMass Memorial Health asks all patients to provide a government-issued photo ID with date of birth at registration to make sure we provide the right treatment to the right patient. We are not checking your immigration status.
You will still receive the care you need, even if you do not have a government-issued photo ID.
We want to give you the best possible care, and to help us do that, the information on your photo ID will be recorded in your medical record.
The information on your photo ID may be shared with other health care providers so they can provide you with the care you need. This information may also be shared with your insurance provider for billing purposes. We will not provide this information to U.S. immigration officials.
Your immigration status does not matter when it comes to receiving care at UMass Memorial Health.
