Why Choose Us for Cancer Genetic Testing?
Coordination
If you have cancer, genetic counselors discuss your results with your other UMass Memorial specialists, including medical oncologists and surgical oncologists. This collaboration means you don’t need to worry about managing the details of your care. We handle everything so you have a seamless experience.
Privacy
Your genetic testing results are only available to people with a reasonable need to see them. These individuals include cancer genetic counselors and the specialists guiding your treatment or surveillance services. UMass Memorial complies with all state and federal privacy laws and keeps your information secure. Genetic testing information cannot be used to limit decisions about future health insurance coverage or employment.
Research and Innovation
In partnership with UMass Chan Medical School, we are conducting research on cancer-related mutations and hereditary cancers. These efforts include lab-based research studies. We are gaining new knowledge of how specific genes contribute to cancer development, progression and treatment. This information may lead to new care methods.
