Services We Provide

At UMass Memorial Medical Center, we have the most advanced diagnostic imaging technology available today – including X-rays, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT scans, MRI scans, PET/CT scans and nuclear medicine scans. We also have an entire team of subspecialists – radiologists with extra training in specific types of imaging – including:

  • Abdominal imaging: Detects diseases of the digestive/gastrointestinal tract and genitourinary tract
  • Breast imaging: Detects breast cancer and other diseases of the breast in women and men
  • Cardiac imaging: Detects structural and blood flow problems related to the heart
  • Chest (thoracic) imaging: Detects diseases involving the lungs, mediastinum (the part of the chest containing the trachea and esophagus), the pleura (lining of the lungs) and the chest wall
  • Emergency Department (ED) imaging: Specialized attending radiologists are available on-site at our University Campus 24/7 to diagnose injuries and illnesses in the ED
  • Musculoskeletal (orthopedic) imaging: Detects conditions affecting the bones, joints, muscles ligaments and tendons
  • Neuroimaging: Imaging of the structure and activity of the brain and other parts of the central nervous system
  • Nuclear medicine imaging: Uses small amounts of radioactive materials (called tracers) to help diagnose and treat a variety of diseases
  • Pediatric radiology: Helps diagnose medical conditions in children

Interventional Radiology at UMass Memorial

This fast-growing field demands great technical skill. Our interventional radiologists have advanced training in their field and are nationally and internationally recognized for their expertise in:

  • Abdominal Interventional Radiology – Treats abdominal and pelvic disorders such as abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), liver and kidney tumors and performs abscess drainage, biopsies
  • Neurointerventional Radiology – One of the nation’s premier programs, our specialists treat stroke, brain aneurysms and other abnormal blood vessels, seizures and brain tumors
  • Vascular Interventional Radiology – Treats conditions including peripheral artery disease, deep vein thrombosis (blood clot in the leg) and uterine fibroids
