Insurance

MassHealth

MassHealth offers health benefits and health insurance assistance to eligible Massachusetts’ residents, including children, families, seniors and people with disabilities.

Massachusetts Health Connector

Offered through the Health Connector, ConnectorCare is subsidized health insurance for low- and moderate-income families who do not qualify for MassHealth or other public coverage, and who do not have affordable access to employer-sponsored insurance.

MassHealth Premium Assistance (PA) Program

This program is for MassHealth members with access to employer-sponsored health insurance or from another source, such as someone else living in your household.

CT Access Health

CT Access Health is Connecticut's official health insurance marketplace. It allows residents to learn about and enroll in health and dental plans, and access financial assistance to reduce costs. Eligible Connecticut residents also can apply for low- or no-cost coverage through HUSKY Health Programs (Medicaid and CHIP) or the Covered Connecticut Program.

Medicare is federal health insurance for people 65 or older, some younger people with disabilities, and/or people with End-Stage Renal Disease.

Health Care For All Massachusetts Helpline

Provides a free, multilingual resource to help consumers with health coverage.

Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone (SHINE)

SHINE provides free health insurance information, counseling and assistance to Massachusetts Medicare patients and those with disabilities. Visit your senior center or Regional Aging Services Access Point.

You can contact your health insurance company to find out what providers and hospitals are in your network.

Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers

Massachusetts' community health centers are located throughout the state. Their services can include primary care check-ups, and disease management such as diabetes, asthma, hypertension, HIV/AIDS and cancer. Some community health centers also offer dental care, mental health counseling and substance use disorder treatment.

UMass Memorial Ronald McDonald Care Mobile

The UMass Memorial Health Ronald McDonald Care Mobile delivers an innovative, community-based model of medical services and preventive dental care to the vulnerable, socioeconomically disadvantaged, uninsured, and undocumented children and their families living in Worcester County. The Care Mobile services 22 Worcester public and charter schools and nine neighborhood sites across the city.

Medication Cost

Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences University Pharmacy Outreach

A community service program offered by the University that is staffed by case managers, licensed pharmacists and students.  They have a toll-free number noted below and walk-in hours. They can be contacted for a review of your medication and prescription coverage and may be able to provide information regarding assistance with accessing affordable prescription drug programs through the Medicare Drug benefit, as well as medication assistance options for other uninsured or underinsured residents of Massachusetts. Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs – Prescription Advantage

This is a state-sponsored prescription drug program for eligible Massachusetts residents age 65 or older and those with disabilities. Visit their website for more information and eligibility requirements.

PAN Foundation

The PAN Foundation helps underinsured people with life-threatening, chronic, and rare diseases get the medications and treatments they need by assisting with their out-of-pocket costs and advocating for improved access and affordability. Visit their website noted below to learn more.

Additional Assistance

Social Security Administration

The Social Security Administration administers the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (also known as “Disability”) programs among other programs. SSI and SSDI are two federal programs that provide assistance to eligible people with disabilities and older adults.

Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA)

DTA offers programs for eligible individuals and families to help them meet their basic needs. Visit their website for more information and eligibility requirements.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

SNAP is a program run by the DTA that provides funds to help individuals and families buy fresh, nutritious food. Apply online.

Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)

WIC offers federal funding to states to help provide supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education to low-income women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum, as well as to infants and children up to age 5 who are identified as being at nutritional risk. If you are a father, mother, grandparent, foster parent or other legal guardian of a child under 5, you can apply for WIC for your child.

CommunityHELP Health and Everyday Living Programs for Community Members
