Medical Center Earns Newsweek’s 2024 Best Maternity Hospital Recognition

UMass Memorial Medical Center has been named one of America's Best Maternity Hospitals by Newsweek, earning the top five-ribbon rating for the third year in a row. The list names the top 404 leading hospitals for maternity care in the U.S. divided into two performance categories: five-ribbon hospitals (168 institutions) and four-ribbon hospitals (236 institutions).

Healthgrades honored 377 hospitals across 44 states for patient experience. Healthgrades released its 2025 Outstanding Patient Experience Award, which recognizes hospitals that provide top-quality care while ensuring a positive healthcare experience for patients. The company analyzed data from 3,059 hospitals that submitted at least 100 patient experience surveys to CMS between January and December 2023.

The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) says that the more often children eat dinner with their parents, the less likely they are to smoke, drink or use drugs. The center compared teens who had a family meal five or seven times a week with those who did so twice or less. Those who ate together more often were four times less likely to smoke, 2.5 times less likely to use marijuana and half as likely to drink alcohol.
