Our Amputee Clinic team is here to help you gain strength, mobility and independence while caring for your emotional and mental health needs. This service is available at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. 

Our physiatrists (experts in nonsurgical orthopedic care) and prosthetists (specialists in prosthetic limbs) coordinate your care. We also connect you with experienced mental health providers who support you throughout your journey.
 

Services We Provide for Amputees

We care for people of all ages who have amputations related to illness, injury or congenital (present at birth) conditions. Our services include:

  • Gait (walking) analysis and training
  • Edema (swelling) management
  • Exercise and rehabilitation therapy
  • Pain management, which may include medications, injections and nonmedical therapies from our expert physiatrists
  • Prosthesis care, including fitting expertise to find the most comfortable option for you
  • Seamless referrals to other UMass Memorial providers, such as counselors and orthopedic surgeons
  • Wound care and guidance on at-home skin care
