Ronald McDonald Care Mobile

The UMass Memorial Health Ronald McDonald Care Mobile delivers an innovative, community-based model of medical services and preventive dental care to the vulnerable, socioeconomically disadvantaged, uninsured and undocumented children and their families living in Worcester County. The Care Mobile services 28 Worcester public and charter schools with nine neighborhood sites across the city. Our routine sites include neighborhood and community centers, churches, and apartment complexes. 

The Care Mobile also provides qualified medical interpreters to patients and families who want to receive health information in a language other than English. Interpreters are available free of charge either in-person or over the phone, to ensure support for over 100 languages spoken by our patient population. Learn more about our interpreter services. 

History and Community Support

The Care Mobile program, developed in partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities and UMass Memorial Medical Center, launched in 2000 as the first of its kind prototype. Disadvantaged children and their families often struggle with access to medical and dental care, and the Care Mobile has been a flagship program of UMass Memorial Health's efforts to reduce healthcare disparities. Supported by the generosity of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern New England, Inc., UMass Memorial Medical Center introduced the nation's first Ronald McDonald Mobile Care Unit that summer. Today, there are over 50 Care Mobiles worldwide.

Our Services 

The Care Mobile program offers medical and preventative dental services to students in the Worcester Public Schools.  We are currently open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to 3 pm and will be in nine different community sites throughout each month. In addition to providing preventive medical and dental care, the staff works to connect children and their families to community resources, primary care physicians, dentists and other providers, as well as help them enroll in health insurance programs.

Do you need help applying for health insurance? Contact our Patient Financial Counseling Office at 508-334-9300 or needinsurance@umassmemorial.org. Interpreter services are available over the phone.
