Pharmacy Residency Program at HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital
UMass Memorial Health - HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital is a member of UMass Memorial Health, the largest health care system in Central Massachusetts, and is located about an hour outside of Boston. HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital is a 138-bed not-for-profit, full service, acute care community hospital with services on three campuses in Clinton, Fitchburg, and Leominster. Services across the three campuses include two emergency departments, multiple medical-surgical and medical-telemetry units, a geriatric-psychiatric unit, a critical care unit, operating rooms, and an outpatient oncology infusion center.
The Pharmacy Department provides services on all three campuses and consists of approximately 40 staff members. The pharmacy staffing model consists of clinical pharmacists, clinical pharmacy specialists, and faculty members whose practice site is at HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital. The clinical pharmacists provide services throughout the hospital via running central operations and decentralizing to patient care units. Both introductory and advanced pharmacy students are hosted throughout the year.
The ASHP accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program is a one-year training program that begins around the first of July and continues through to the end of June the following year. During this year residents can expect to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to practice as a clinical pharmacist in a community hospital setting.
