Residencies and Fellowships
UMass Memorial Health and UMass Chan Medical School provide residents in all generalist and specialist programs, and advanced practice providers, opportunities for supervised experiences in both tertiary and community practice. As the health care system’s academic medical center, UMass Memorial Medical Center is the Central Massachusetts region’s advanced tertiary care referral center.
The Medical Center has three campuses in Worcester – Hahnemann, Memorial and University – and offers comprehensive and sophisticated technology and support services, providing specialists acclaimed for their work in such areas as:
- Obstetrics and gynecology
- Orthopedic care
These specialty services complement the outstanding primary care services that UMass Memorial provides at its hospitals and through its community-based primary care network.
In addition, UMass Memorial Medical Center serves as the region’s comprehensive provider of emergency services. The University Campus is home to the region’s only Level I Trauma Center for both adults and children and to Life Flight, the region’s air ambulance.
The Children’s Medical Center offers specialists in every pediatric health field from cardiology to surgery and includes the region’s only Level III Newborn Intensive Care Unit on the Memorial Campus and a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit on the University Campus.
Patients requiring day surgical services and specialty care in the areas of dermatology, ophthalmology, cosmetic surgery, sports medicine, and hand and upper extremity surgery, are treated on the Hahnemann Campus.
A Critical Care Fellow is offered to Advanced Practice Providers. This is an exceptional learning and working opportunity with a 12-month clinical post-graduate Affiliate Practitioner (AP) Residency Program in Critical Care at UMass Memorial Medical Center for highly motivated new graduates or experienced physician assistants (PAs) or acute care nurse practitioners (NPs) seeking a career in critical care medicine.
