Board Certification
All members of the Medical Staff are required to hold specialty board certification or eligibility in their primary practice specialty. Certification must be obtained within 7 years of completing the corresponding training.
Specialty board certification status must be maintained either through recertification exams or through Maintenance of Certification programs (MOC).
The only exceptions shall be:
- Internationally trained physicians who are ineligible to take the U.S. board examination
- Those physicians previously grandfathered into board certification by UMass Memorial Medical Center
- Completed waiver request approved by the Credentials Committee, Medical Staff Executive Committee and Patient Care Assessment Committee
